The Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs announced on the 8th that from the 9th to the 27th, it will inspect distribution companies dealing with livestock products such as beef, pork, chicken, and eggs for illegal distribution activities.

This inspection will be conducted jointly with local governments, the National Agricultural Products Quality Management Service, the Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency, and the Korea Livestock Products Quality Evaluation Institute. Each organization will check related documents such as livestock product traceability, grades, and origin labeling.

In the inspection process, if illegal distribution of livestock products is suspected, samples will be collected on-site and compared for genetic identity with samples previously obtained from slaughterhouses.

The joint inspection team will also monitor online malls, considering the recent increase in online distribution.

Jeon Ik-seong, head of the livestock distribution team at the Ministry of Agriculture, noted, "We will do our best to ensure transparency in the distribution of livestock products and protect consumers."
