Seo Young-kyo, a candidate for the next floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, expressed concerns over the rumor that former prosecutor Oh Kwang-soo might be appointed as the senior presidential secretary for civil affairs. Seo noted, “There might be many better people.”
On the 6th, Seo appeared on MBC Radio and when asked about the rumor of Oh's appointment as senior presidential secretary, Seo remarked, “I haven’t seen many cases where someone mentioned in rumors actually gets appointed.”
Seo said, “Being with Yoon Suk Yeol, being a special prosecutor together, these are not positive things in my view,” adding, “There may be trust because they were peers and the president might believe in them, as the rumors suggest. But if they worked with Yoon Seok Yeol and others, I think it could be a reason for reconsideration.”
He further addressed President Lee Jae-myung, saying, “There seem to be many better people, so it would be good to look further and choose carefully.”
Oh, who is a peer of President Lee at the Judicial Research and Training Institute and a former special prosecutor, was rumored to be appointed as the senior presidential secretary for civil affairs, but was not included in the presidential office's announcement the previous day.
Seo predicted that the new government's cabinet appointments could take around two to three weeks if done quickly.
