Following Kweon Seong-dong, the floor leader of the People Power Party, the emergency countermeasure committee members expressed their resignation en masse on the 5th. Kim Yong-tae, the chair of the emergency countermeasure committee, is expected to clarify his stance through gathering opinions within the party.
Seo Ji-young, the floor spokesperson, reported that during the general assembly held at the National Assembly that morning, Kim Sang-hoon, a policy committee chair and a de facto committee member, along with emergency committee members Lim I-ja, Choi Hyung-doo, and Choi Bo-yoon, expressed their resignations.
The emergency committee chair has stated that he will clarify his stance through gathering opinions.
After the resumed general assembly in the afternoon, he met with reporters and said, “I am listening to many opinions from the lawmakers regarding my position,” adding, “I have not expressed any intention to resign.”
He continued, “I believe that the part where I said I would critically reflect on the election process needs to continue without interruption, and I am constantly mentioning that there are many areas where the party needs to be reformed.” The emergency committee chair added that he would also push to nullify the party line against impeachment.
