The Democratic Party of Korea's 'Kim Keon-hee special prosecutor law' passed the National Assembly plenary session on the 5th.

On that day, the National Assembly held a plenary session and presented the bill on 'the appointment of a special prosecutor to investigate the National Assembly's corruption and illegal election intervention involving Kim Keon-hee and Myung Tae-kyun, along with other matters' for a vote.

The Kim Keon-hee special prosecutor law was passed with 194 votes in favor, 3 against, and 1 abstention out of 198 members present.

This bill listed a total of 16 issues as subjects for the special prosecutor's investigation, including the stock manipulation allegations against Mrs. Kim, spouse of former President Yoon Suk-yeol, the handbag bribe allegations, the allegations related to 'Geonjinbeopsa', and the allegations of political interference in nominations and illegal election interventions involving political broker Myung Tae-kyun.

The candidate for the special prosecutor will be nominated by the party with the most seats among the negotiating groups and non-negotiating groups that received the recommendation request, with the Democratic Party of Korea and the Rebuilding Korea Party expected to nominate one candidate each.
