Park Hyung-soo, the floor leader, told reporters after a party meeting that day, "The Democratic Party of Korea unilaterally decided to oppose the four bills that it had introduced."

It has been reported that a heated debate occurred during the morning meeting regarding the direction of party reform following the presidential election defeat and the status of the leadership.

The schedule for the floor leader election following Kweon Seong-dong's resignation has not yet been set. Park noted, "The floor leader has resigned, but there is no system for acting as a floor leader. So the current floor leader will continue to serve until the next floor leader is elected." He added, "Regarding the leadership's resignation, we need to discuss whether the entire leadership will resign or if individual commissioners will resign at the party meeting."

It has been reported that there were about twenty intense opposing voices regarding the party line adopting a no vote on the three major special prosecution laws.

Representative Jo Gyeong-tae told reporters during the party meeting, "About twenty members opposed the party line (no vote)."

He continued, "I request the party to retract the portion regarding the three special prosecution laws as a party line and wish for a free vote," stating that he hopes for a conversion to a free vote.

Representative Jo also criticized the party for not demonstrating a reform posture following the presidential election defeat. He stated, "The party should not only say that the emergency martial law on Dec. 3 was wrong but also show that through practical actions; however, we have failed to demonstrate such a posture, which is regrettable to the people."

He added, "It seems there are some members who still cannot properly analyze the reasons why our party lost the presidential election. More accurately, it seems to be a majority opinion," suggesting that he hopes for a thorough and in-depth reflection on the causes of the election defeat.
