Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party of Korea presidential candidate, said on the 4th, “I will not forget the mission you entrusted to me and will carry it out without a single deviation.” This candidate spoke near 1:14 a.m. on the stage set up in front of the National Assembly in Yeouido on this day, when his election as the 21st president was virtually assured, stating, “It was only six months after the imposition of martial law (on Dec. 3) that we proved through our votes that we, the owners of this country, would dismiss them.”

The candidate noted, “One of the things I have longed for since the night of the rebellion until this moment is the fact that this country is a land of ordinary citizens,” adding, “I tried to prove that all the power exercised by the president comes from the people and should be used not for the private interests of the president but solely for the better lives of the citizens and the bright future of this country.”

The candidate cited 'overcoming the rebellion' as the first task after being elected. He also declared ▲revitalizing the economy and recovering livelihoods ▲ensuring the lives and safety of the people ▲creating a peaceful Korean Peninsula ▲social integration.
