As the victory of Lee Jae-myung, Democratic Party of Korea candidate, in the presidential election is almost certain, former President Moon Jae-in sent congratulations to candidate Lee Jae-myung.

Former President Moon wrote on Facebook on the 3rd, congratulating "the people and Lee Jae-myung on winning the presidency," adding that it was "the choice of a great nation."

He continued by writing that it was "a stern judgement on the total national mismanagement and treasonous acts shaking the country by the Yoon Seok-youl administration, a result born out of the people's earnest desire for a new Korea."

He also expressed a wish to "see Korea charging forward again with President Lee Jae-myung," hoping for a return to common sense, normalization of the country, and unification of the people.

Former President Moon further added, hoping to "heal the shattered economy and livelihoods, safeguard national interests amidst turbulent international order, and march towards a peaceful future. None of these are easy tasks, but I believe the era's mission will be fulfilled," and expressed support for the Lee Jae-myung administration along with the people.

The three major broadcasters (KBS, MBC, SBS) reported at around 11:40 p.m. that night, during the 21st presidential election vote-count broadcast, that Lee Jae-myung of the Democratic Party of Korea was certain to win with 48.9% support. This was reported when the vote counting rate was at 40.2%.
