Park Chan-dae, chairperson of the Democratic Party of Korea, noted on the 3rd, "With more than half of the exit polls showing support from the public, we must achieve national unity."
The chairperson met with reporters at the National Assembly's member's office building after the exit poll results from three major broadcast networks were released that day and said, "I hoped for an overwhelming victory, and we must replace the government to end the insurrection and focus on the people's livelihood and democracy."
He emphasized, "In fact, we must wait to see the final results, but we have the task of national unity after the presidential election," adding, "As candidate Lee Jae-myung has always said, achieving national unity without revenge could greatly help us move towards overcoming the crisis."
In response to the question, "Will the insurrection end with this presidential election?" the chairperson said, "We must clearly show our will so that no state of emergency or insurrection occurs again in Korea," and added, "For complete democracy in Korea, we must certainly make institutional improvements and hold accountable those responsible for the causes."
Regarding the Kim Keon-hee, insurrection, and Myung Tae-kyun special prosecution laws, he said, "We are currently gathering opinions, and the final decision will be made through discussions in the highest committee or the general assembly of lawmakers," stressing, "The insurrection must be definitively ended, and we must achieve national unity to recover and leap forward from the crisis in Korea."
