Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party of Korea's presidential candidate, encouraged voting on the 3rd, the day of the official presidential election, saying, "Only voting can stop the unprecedented insurrection and open a new era of hope."
On that day at 6 a.m., the candidate posted a message titled "Let's write a new history together" on X (formerly Twitter), in which he made these remarks.
The candidate stated, "The insurrection is not over yet, and our society is still mired in confusion and distrust," adding, "I believe the great people will judge us sternly and decisively."
He then said, "There is nothing we cannot achieve together," and urged, "Let's move forward for a new country. The fate of Korea rests in your hands."
The candidate urged participation in voting, stating, "To overcome the current crisis and return to a Korea of recovery and growth, please vote."
The candidate reiterated his appeal for support on Facebook at 8:34 a.m.
He said, "With that hand that stopped the destruction of democracy and held up the cheering stick to drive out the illegal martial law and insurrection, please protect Korea once more," adding, "I will work as an excellent tool for the people to overcome the current crisis and ultimately create a true Korea that leads the world."
