Kim Moon-soo, the People Power Party presidential candidate, pointed out on the 2nd regarding remarks made by Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party of Korea candidate, suggesting that he communicated with the Supreme Court before the verdict on his public office election law violation case, saying, "Does this imply that there is a collaborator within the Supreme Court?"
Kim noted on his Facebook that "the Supreme Court must immediately release an official position regarding the remarks made by this candidate" and added, "If the Supreme Court declares that it is not true, then today's remarks by this candidate amount to a serious dissemination of false facts."
Kim criticized, saying, "If the communication with the Supreme Court is true, it would be a serious collapse of constitutional order and judicial manipulation," and asked, "Was the suspicion of the transaction that saved Lee Jae-myung in the past insufficient with just one person, Kwon Soon-il?"
He asserted, "The increase of Supreme Court justices that this candidate and the Democratic Party of Korea are pushing for ultimately aims to control the judiciary according to their own liking by creating 'idealistic justices' and 'fluffy justices'. If left as is, the Supreme Court will end up operating according to Lee Jae-myung's design, just like in the Daejang-dong case."
He continued, "The Supreme Court would be reduced to an accessory of Lee Jae-myung," emphasizing, "The public must judge this candidate's unimaginable ambitions and reckless behavior with their votes."
Park Yong-chan, the head of the public relations message team of the People Power Party central election committee, also issued a statement on the same day, saying, "It can only be viewed as a statement that revealed some communication with the Supreme Court prior to the final ruling on his charge of dissemination of false facts," and criticized, "If there was communication between the defendant's side and the Supreme Court before the final ruling, it would be crucial circumstantial evidence supporting an inappropriate judicial transaction."
Earlier, Lee appeared on YouTube's "Kim Eo-jun's Humble is Difficult News Factory" and said, "It could be a sort of scoop, but even though I don't go directly to the Supreme Court, there must be some communication (contact) coming in, as it is a world where people live. It couldn't be that there isn't any contact," adding, "What I've heard is that they wanted to quickly and neatly organize (the allegations of election law violations)." He then mentioned, "But suddenly, it seems something changed one day."
Lee stated, "I still have trust in the judiciary. We should not distrust the judiciary based on this matter," adding, "Distrusting or belittling the entire court would be a detriment to our society."
Additionally, the Democratic Party of Korea's campaign committee announced through media notifications that "this candidate has never said that he communicated directly with the Supreme Court" and clarified, "This candidate clearly explained in today's broadcast that these were not direct statements from the Supreme Court."
