Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party of Korea presidential candidate, said on the 2nd regarding his case of violating the Public Official Election Act, “From what I heard, they were inclined to organize (the allegations of election law violations) quickly and neatly.” Initially, there were observations that the Supreme Court would dismiss the appeal, but in reality, it remanded the case with a guilty intent, stating it was “absurd.”
On that day, the candidate appeared on YouTube's "Kim Eo-jun's Humility is Difficult News Factory," saying, “It could be a kind of scoop; although I do not go directly to the Supreme Court, communication (contact) happens. In a world where people live, there can’t be a lack of contact,” and added, “From what I heard, they were inclined to organize (the allegations of election law violations) quickly and neatly.” He then stated, “But one day it suddenly changed.”
He also said, “I have been living as a legal professional for quite a few decades and have been in politics for a long time. I have experienced all kinds of ups and downs, but this incident was really absurd.” However, he added, “I still have trust in the judiciary. We should not distrust the judiciary regarding this matter,” saying, “Distrusting or belittling the entire judiciary would be a loss for our society.”
Additionally, the candidate mentioned the delayed verdict on the impeachment trial of former President Yoon Suk-yeol, saying, “That was the most difficult time.” However, regarding the Democratic Party's claims at that time for the “impeachment of all cabinet members,” he replied, “I did not think that was the best solution.”
He added, “If I were to act on my impulses, I would have to completely (impeach them), as they have made mistakes deserving of that.” However, he noted, “If the subsequent circumstances are not just, public mobilization would not be possible. That is the power of legitimacy.” He further stated, “If we impeach everyone, there will be a situation without a government, which would mean a state without a 'head.' Shouldn't we have at least a bad head?”
