People Power Party candidate Kim Moon-soo officially apologized again on the 1st for former President Yoon Suk-yeol's declaration of martial law and the impeachment situation.
It is interpreted as an attempt to draw a line against the message that former President Yoon sent through Pastor Jeon Kwang-hoon, urging voters to go to the polls on June 3 to support candidate Kim Moon-soo in order to protect this country's freedom and democracy and normalize the country.
Candidate Kim stated at a campaign site in Gwanggyo New City in Suwon on that day, "Martial law has caused many difficulties for our country. And there has been much conflict regarding the impeachment as well," and added, "I believe that if we do not deeply reflect on this and make a new commitment, Korea cannot become a great nation again."
Kim Yong-tae, chairman of the emergency response committee of the People Power Party, remarked immediately after former President Yoon's support message for Kim, "Former President Yoon withdrew from the party, but it is essentially a expulsion," and stated, "I hope former President Yoon does not come near the People Power Party at all."
On that day, candidate Kim concentrated his attacks on the judicial risks of Democratic Party of Korea candidate Lee Jae-myung while appealing for support.
Candidate Kim compared Gwanggyo New City, which he developed during his time as Gyeonggi governor, to the Daejang-dong development project promoted by candidate Lee during his time as mayor of Seongnam, saying, "Even though I was involved in such a small thing, there were so many troubles, and if the Daejang-dong is the city with the most corruption and suspicions since the founding of the nation, Gwanggyo was built on such a large scale, yet there are no reports of anyone dying."
He continued, "The president is just a servant of the sovereign," and added, "It would not be right for a servant to act as if they are important while wearing bulletproof glass and a bulletproof vest, trying to create a bulletproof monster of legislation to maintain power and dictatorship."
