Na Kyung-won of the People Power Party, the co-chair of the election campaign committee, said on the 1st, "June 3 is the critical juncture where free Korea either bows to 'Lee Jae-myung's absolute power' or we defend our freedom."
On the same day, Na held a press conference and characterized the Democratic Party of Korea's proposed ▲ Lee Jae-myung's son defamation prohibition law (amendment to the Telecommunications Business Act) ▲ Crime reporting reward system ▲ Law to increase the number of Supreme Court justices by 30 ▲ Special prosecution law for the Chief Justice, Lee Jae-myung trial suspension law, and the abolishment of the law against false information disclosure ▲ Judge and prosecutor punishment law and the introduction of litigation for trial as 'five laws of Lee Jae-myung's oppressive dictatorship', claiming that they must be stopped.
The amendment to the Telecommunications Business Act stipulates that information that generates and disseminates false information for political or economic gain, inciting crimes such as riots and terrorism, is considered illegal information. Within the People Power Party, it has been criticized as the 'Lee Jae-myung family bulletproof law.'
Shin Dong-uk, the chief spokesperson, pointed out in a commentary, "Now, not only is it insufficient to protect themselves, but they are also pushing for the 'Lee Jae-myung family bulletproof law' and attempting to undermine the constitutional order."
He added, "The Democratic Party has been solely focused on protecting father Lee Jae-myung for the past three years, sacrificing the public's well-being for that protection, misusing the National Assembly like a bulletproof vest for Lee Jae-myung. Now, they are on the verge of turning Korea into a 'protection zone for the Lee Jae-myung family.'"
Lee Jeong-hyun, the co-chair of the election campaign committee, also released a press statement regarding the reasons for Candidate Kim's victory, stating, "It is the accumulation of fatigue and a burst of distrust toward Candidate Lee Jae-myung." He analyzed, "Candidate Kim's genuine moves from a life of integrity and labor activism have spread the sentiment among the centrist and youth groups that 'Kim Moon-soo is better than Lee Jae-myung.'"
The party's Central Election Countermeasure Committee expressed its stance to encourage voter participation during the remaining period while reducing negative strategies and highlighting Candidate Kim's strengths.
Representative Jang Dong-hyuk, who is the head of the comprehensive situation room for the campaign committee, held a press conference on the morning of that day at the party's headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul, and stated, "Candidate Kim is a strong candidate in and of himself, and as more people get to know him, his favorability has increased, thereby narrowing the support rate."
He continued, "Due to several negative issues surrounding Candidate Lee, we have already caught up," adding, "It will be a difficult fight, but if we do our best until the end and increase the voter turnout, a reversal is possible."
