Kang Sun-woo, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, said on the 1st that she was assaulted by a passerby during a presidential election campaign.

Later that day, the official Democratic Party of Korea YouTube channel, 'Daily Minjoo,' said, "Broadcasting is being delayed due to the assault incident on Representative Kang Sun-woo, which occurred during the evening campaign in Gangseo."

Afterward, appearing on the broadcast, Kang said, "On the way to conduct election campaign activities at Balsan Station, someone suddenly struck my right arm strongly," and added, "I was very startled, and both my body and mind are not calming down well, so the start of today's broadcast was delayed."

Kang was reportedly conducting a focused campaign in front of Exit 3 of Balsan Station around 6 p.m. that day. According to Kang's office, a male passerby hit her right arm with a bag he was carrying during the campaign. The man was reportedly handed over to the police immediately.

Kang's side stated, "Assaulting a campaigner is a serious act of election interference that infringes on the freedom of elections and is an act of violence against democracy."
