The Ministry of Environment will operate a 'Generative AI Experience Group' consisting of 100 employees for a month from June 2 to utilize generative artificial intelligence (AI) in the environmental sector.

The Ministry of Environment announced on the 1st that it formed this 'Generative AI Experience Group' to diagnose the work utilization and security of generative AI in advance before its introduction, scheduled for September this year.

The experience group was selected from employees of the Ministry of Environment (4,388 in total) who wished to participate, including 40 from headquarters and 60 from affiliated agencies.

These employees will use generative AI to perform tasks such as writing reports and presentation materials and will submit their opinions on work utilization cases and areas for improvement to the relevant department (Director for ICT Management).

The experience group will utilize the paid version of 'generative AI (ChatGPT)' for work purposes through personal devices like smartphones, while adhering to internal security rules such as the prohibition of inputting personal and sensitive information.

The Ministry of Environment plans to analyze the group's opinions and reflect them in the design and operational direction of a customized generative AI for the ministry after a review by related security experts.

Im Mi-jeong, Director for ICT Management at the Ministry of Environment, said, "Based on the results of this experience group, we plan to introduce a generative AI optimized for environmental work."
