The Reform Party announced on the 31st that it will file a complaint against Lee Jae-myung, the candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, for violating the Public Official Election Act (spreading false facts). The complaint is set to be filed with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency on the 2nd of next month.
The campaign headquarters of the Reform Party said in a media notice that "the Democratic Party of Korea's candidate Lee Jae-myung stated in a media interview on May 30 that Lee Jun-seok, the candidate of the Reform Party, exaggerated and distorted comments made by Lee Jae-myung's son, manipulating them to seem like sexual expressions."
The campaign headquarters also noted, "The confirmed charge against Lee Jae-myung's son is a violation of the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection (distribution of obscene materials)," adding, "In other words, the comments made by Lee Jae-myung's son are indeed sexual expressions."
The campaign headquarters further stated, "Nevertheless, candidate Lee Jae-myung claimed that Lee Jun-seok distorted the comments made by his son, making them seem like sexual expressions, which is a statement made with the intent to defeat Lee Jun-seok's candidacy. This constitutes a violation of the Public Official Election Act (spreading false facts)."
