Former President Park Geun-hye visited Seomun Market in Daegu on the afternoon of the 31st, three days before the presidential election.

Former President Park arrived at Seomun Market around 1 p.m. wearing a white shirt and black pants. Yoo Young-ha, a member of the People Power Party and a close aide to former President Park, noted the day before, "We are going to Seomun Market with the President."

Upon arriving at Seomun Market, former President Park spent about 30 minutes walking around the market, buying pancake mix and hoddeok. She shook hands with citizens and waved in greeting. She also signed copies of her autobiography presented by several citizens.

Former President Park began by saying to the journalists present, "It has been a while since I came to Daegu, hasn't it?" then continued, "I often thought of the people here. I thought I should come and greet them, but I couldn’t."

She further explained, "A few days ago, candidate Kim Moon-soo noted that many people at Dongseongno would like to see me when he campaigned there. I was touched and felt I should have come sooner, which led to my visit today."

Former President Park expressed, "I am so grateful for the warm welcome, and the desire to meet you all that I’ve felt for some time now has finally been fulfilled, putting my mind at ease."

Members of the People Power Party from the Daegu region accompanied former President Park to Seomun Market, wearing campaign attire for candidate Kim Moon-soo. These included lawmakers Choo Kyung-ho, Yoon Jae-ok, Kim Seung-soo, Kang Dae-sik, Lee In-seon, and Yoo Young-ha.

Feeling a strong desire to visit after seeing him, I came today."

On that day, Seomun Market was crowded with visitors arriving for the weekend, mixed with supporters of former President Park. The police deployed around 100 officers on-site, partially restricting access.
