People Power Party Emergency Response Committee Chairperson Kim Yong-tae strongly criticized the mismanagement revealed during the early voting process on the 30th and urged the National Election Commission to take responsible measures.

Chairperson Kim held an emergency press conference at Dongtan Station in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province, on this day and noted, “The public is horrified by the ongoing mismanagement of voter proceedings,” making this point clear.

Chairperson Kim stated, “In Sinchon, Seoul, a voter returned after taking a meal with their ballot, and in Gangnam, Seoul, an election staff member was caught red-handed voting on behalf of their husband.” Kim added, “Today, in Gimpo and Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province, last year's parliamentary election ballots were discovered in early voting boxes for the presidential election.”

Chairperson Kim emphasized that the National Election Commission should not shirk responsibility by saying that 'local government officials manage early voting booths,' and stressed the need for improvement in the management of early voting ballots.

Referring to the method proposed during the tenure of former representative Han Dong-hoon as Chairperson of the Emergency Response Committee, Kim emphasized, “We will ensure that the election officer directly stamps it by amending the Public Official Election Act.”

Chairperson Kim called for a responsible apology from the National Election Commission and immediate systematic improvements. Additionally, Kim said, “If this situation is brushed off as a management oversight, there will be public resistance,” and added, “A thorough investigation of all early voting stations nationwide, inspection of similar incidents, accountability for responsible persons, and a complete overhaul of management guidelines are urgent.” Kim also stated that the Chairperson of the National Election Commission must sincerely apologize to the public.
