Kim Moon-soo, the presidential candidate of the People Power Party, stated on the 30th regarding his spouse, Seol Na-nyeong, that “Seol Na-nyeong is Kim Moon-soo, and Kim Moon-soo is Seol Na-nyeong.” This was a direct response to writer Yoo Si-min's remark that “the position of a presidential candidate's spouse from a major party is not a position that can be reached in Seol's life.”

On this day, candidate Kim commented on Facebook, “Are there places in life that one can or cannot reach? I don't think so,” expressing his thoughts.

On the 28th, writer Yoo appeared on the YouTube channel “Kim Eo-jun's Dasveida” and remarked about Seol: “Kim Moon-soo, as a 'student-turned-laborer,' married a 'real laborer.' You can imagine how that relationship would be. It might make one feel uplifted through marriage with such a man.” He added, “The position of a presidential candidate's spouse from a major party is a position unattainable in Seol Na-nyeong’s life. She could even become First Lady.” Further, he stated, “That's what I mean by 'not being in one's right mind.'”

Candidate Kim stated, “My wife, Seol Na-nyeong, was a capable woman elected as the chairman of the labor union at Sejin Electronics at the age of 25.” He added, “She was an enthusiastic labor activist who operated a nursery to support working women laborers.” He further mentioned, “During the two and a half years I spent in prison, she silently stood by me, giving me hope and courage. She was a strong wife and excellent mother who managed a bookstore to support the family and raised our only daughter, Dong-joo, correctly.” He concluded, “She is a wonderful person who protected me and our family with her great love and dedication.”

Meanwhile, the negative campaign team of the People Power Party's Central Election Countermeasures Committee announced through a press release that they would file a complaint with the police, stating that writer Yoo defamed candidate Kim and Seol Na-nyeong, violating the Public Official Election Act. The People Power Party argued, “Mr. Yoo Si-min's comments exceed the scope of policy criticism or public interest verification of candidate Kim, and were made to ridicule and insult the candidate and his spouse, thus constituting an election law violation (candidate defamation) for which they plan to file a complaint with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency.”
