Lee Jun-seok, the Reform Party presidential candidate, criticized on the 30th, saying, "The Democratic Party and its secondary, tertiary, and quaternary factions say they will expel me from my position as a member of parliament," and called it the prelude to "Lee Jae-myung's Yooshin dictatorship."
The Democratic Party of Korea is mentioning the expulsion of Lee Jun-seok after he made blatant remarks targeting Lee Jae-myung's son during a TV debate on the 27th. The expulsion proposal passes with the approval of two-thirds of the sitting members. Even if only a few from the People Power Party agree, this candidate could lose their parliamentary position.
On this day, the candidate held an emergency press conference at the National Assembly in Yeouido, Seoul, stating, "In the 1976 trial of the 3.1 Democracy and National Salvation Declaration, citizens protested with black tape on their mouths," and added, "I never dreamed I would experience such scenes in reality today. This is an anti-democratic outrage that pushes Korea's history back by 50 years."
The candidate also stated, "Lee Jae-myung and the Democratic Party think that if they can just get through this period, it won't have a significant impact on the election, so they are trying to silence the media," adding, "Avoiding direct answers and calling it fake news to buy time while playing tricks with the expulsion proposal shows a lack of responsibility."
He also remarked, "Yoon Seok-yeol tried to kill me once he took power, and it seems Lee Jae-myung is trying to kill me before even taking power," asserting, "I will not die. I will boldly fight back."
The candidate emphasized, "This fight has clear battle lines; it is a struggle against dictators like Lee Jae-myung, sophists like Yoo Si-min, and conspiracy theorists like Kim Eo-jun. They should be judged in this election so that the younger generation can lead the country away from politics."
However, the candidate drew the line, stating, "Just because we share the same thoughts doesn’t mean we will engage in politics together; I will not cooperate with the People Power Party because of this incident."
The candidate said, "The Reform Party has only three seats and is severely underfunded, but you, the people, gave me the courage to start with over 10% support," and appealed, "Now, if you armor us with over 15% support and give us the red horse and spear with over 20% or 30% support, we will surely win."
In conclusion, the candidate quoted former President Kim Young-sam's saying that "even if you twist a chicken's neck, dawn will come," asserting, "The miracle has begun. The miracle will continue in the voting."
