Kim Moon-soo, the People Power Party presidential candidate, emphasized on the first day of early voting for the 6·3 presidential election on the 29th, “I will be a president who approaches the people with actions rather than words, a president who communicates sincerely to the point where the public finds it bothersome.”
To this end, he promised to hold ‘dialogues with the people’ quarterly, meet with the leadership of both parties at least once every two months, and conduct a media day once a week.
On the same day, the candidate released a statement saying, “The virtue a president must have when the country is in difficulty is communication,” and stressed that “In this presidential election, there should not be a president of ‘disconnection,’ ‘deadlock,’ or ‘dictatorship,’ but rather a ‘communicative’ president who is always communicating with the public with truth and sincerity.”
He added, “I promise to closely communicate with the public to the extent that I can say, ‘I communicate a lot. I do well.’”
He stated, “I will formalize sincere ‘communication with the people’ on a quarterly basis, surpassing the formal ‘dialogues with the people’ that past presidents held,” and added, “I will keep various communication channels open so that the public can easily approach me.”
He also said he would do his utmost for proactive and sincere dialogue with the opposition party. Kim noted, “I will meet with the party leaders and floor leaders at least once every two months for in-depth discussions on current issues,” and promised, “Furthermore, I will regularly meet with the public from all walks of life for national dialogue and listen to the voices from the field.”
He also emphasized that he would hold a ‘media day’ once a week for the press. Kim stated, “I will create a communication space with formality and respect for various media outlets, including reporters from the presidential office, to thoroughly safeguard the public's right to know.”
