Lee Jae-myung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, said on the first day of early voting for the 21st presidential election on the 29th, “I will realize a new hope of ‘KOSPI 5000’ in the stock market that has been restrained by the ‘Korea discount’ with a transparent corporate governance.”
On the morning of that day, the candidate posted on Facebook an article titled ‘Together with 14 million ants and 52 million citizens,’ stating, “A competent Democratic Party government will establish a fair market order through a massive restructuring of the industrial structure.”
Earlier, the candidate appeared on the K-Initiative TV YouTube episode titled ‘I am on the same boat with 14 million ants’ the previous day, publicly revealing his stock investment history and committing to revitalizing the domestic stock market. On the same day, he also promised to boost stock prices during campaign events in Seoul’s Gwangjin and Jungnang districts.
The candidate noted, “The economy survives on rationality and predictability, but during the conservative government, the market was unfair,” adding, “There were no proper industrial policies, stock prices did not rise, and there was a rush to escape to the U.S. market.”
According to the Democratic Party, the candidate will cast an early vote today in Sinchon, Seodaemun District, along with young people. Park Chan-dae, the chairperson of the Supreme Election Committee, and other leaders of the committee will also cast early votes across the country, including Seoul, Incheon, Daegu, Chungcheong, and Gyeongnam. The candidate will then focus on campaigning in Seoul, the biggest battleground of the election, emphasizing ‘the judgment of insurrection’.
