It has been confirmed that Kim Moon-soo, the People Power Party's presidential candidate, visited Lee Jun-seok, the Reform Party candidate, immediately after finishing his campaign in the Yeongnam region on the 28th. He personally went to seek a 'unification negotiation' meeting before the early voting began, but ultimately the meeting did not take place.

According to political circles on the 29th, Kim visited Lee Jun-seok's office in the National Assembly building around midnight the previous day with Park Dae-chul, the secretary-general, Lee Man-hee, the chief of the staff, and Kim Jae-won, the candidate's secretary.

However, Lee Jun-seok had already moved outside of the National Assembly, and the meeting did not happen. Consequently, Kim's side stayed for about an hour and attempted to contact Lee Jun-seok by phone, but they ultimately could not reach him. Lee Jun-seok is currently not taking any calls.

In response, Kim's side is reportedly determined to continue efforts to meet until the official voting.

On the other hand, Lee Jun-seok's side has clearly expressed its rejection of unification. The Reform Party announced the night before, "It has been rumored that Lee Jun-seok is meeting Kim Moon-soo at an undisclosed location for unification negotiations. This is not true at all."
