The Ministry of Environment announced on the 28th that it will disclose the names of individuals or corporations that violated the Construction Waste Law.

The targets are 184 cases that violated the Construction Waste Law from March 15, last year, when the disclosure system for violations was introduced, until December 31 of that year. The name of the violators (corporations), construction names, violations, and penalties will be posted on the Ministry of Environment's website for one year.

The 184 cases subject to disclosure represent 14.4% of the total 1,280 legal violations. Most cases received administrative penalties or fines under 10 million won.

When the 184 cases are categorized by violators, there are 86 cases of construction waste generators, 68 cases from collection and transportation businesses, and 30 cases from intermediate processing companies. Regarding the penalties, there were 51 administrative penalties corresponding to business suspensions or penalty surcharges, and 133 fines.

In terms of specific violations, among generators, the most common violation was 69 cases of not adhering to construction waste storage standards, while the collection and transportation businesses and intermediate processing companies had 29 cases and 7 cases, respectively, of violating the compliance requirements for construction waste processors.

Kim Go-eung, Director of the Resource Circulation Bureau at the Ministry of Environment, noted, “I expect that social monitoring of construction waste management will be strengthened and the awareness of legal compliance in the related industry will increase,” and added, “We will strengthen field guidance and education to prevent the recurrence of violations.”
