Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party of Korea presidential candidate, noted on the 28th that he invested a total of 40 million won in exchange-traded funds (ETFs) that track the Korea Composite Stock Price Index and the KOSDAQ.
On that day, the candidate certified his securities account through a live broadcast on the Democratic Party's YouTube channel, "Daily Democracy," under the theme "I have embarked on this journey with 14 million ants."
The candidate stated that he purchased 20 million won of the KOSPI 200 ETF, which tracks the KOSPI 200, and 20 million won of the ETF that tracks the KOSDAQ 150.
The candidate revealed, "I bought the first two portions through partitioning," and also stated his plan to invest a total of 100 million won over the next five years.
When the candidate said, "I think it will have risen significantly by the time I leave (the presidency)," Rep. Lee So-young responded, "Isn't the goal to reach 5,000 on the KOSPI, doubling the value?"
The candidate replied, "To achieve that goal, in fact, a reorganization of Korea's industrial structure is necessary," adding, "There is a saying that escaping from the Director-General is a matter of intelligence, but we need to bring back all the ants that have escaped."
The candidate said, "When a Democratic Party government comes into power, the stock market will definitely improve. I am confident about that."
