On the 28th, a day before the early voting for the 21st presidential election, the Democratic Party of Korea focused on encouraging voter participation. Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party of Korea's presidential candidate, is expected to participate in early voting in Sinchon, a university area in Seoul, on the 29th.

On the 28th, just a day before the early voting, Yoon Yeo-jun and Park Chan-dae, the chairperson and co-chairperson of the Democratic Party of Korea's Central Election Countermeasure Committee, along with representatives from progressive political parties, are encouraging voting after signing the voting pledge at the party's office in Yeouido, Seoul. /Courtesy of Yonhap News Agency

Yoon Yeojun, the chairman of the standing committee of the election campaign, said at a meeting of the election committee held that day at the central party headquarters, “If the People Power Party regains power, they will pardon former President Yoon Seok-youl and open the second season of the Yoon Seok-youl administration,” adding, “From tomorrow, the early voting period will be for two days. Let’s make sure to vote and judge them.”

Park Chan-dae, the chairman of the standing committee of the election campaign, also said, “This presidential election is an early election due to former President Yoon’s state of emergency on Dec. 3,” and urged, “By participating in early voting, let’s bring an end to the civil unrest and achieve recovery of livelihoods, economic growth, and national unity.”

Jung Eun-kyung, the general election committee chairwoman, stated, “We cannot entrust the fate and future of Korea to Kim Moon-soo, the People Power Party candidate, who advocates for insurrection and shares roots with extreme right insurrection forces,” adding, “Overseas citizens have already shown their aspirations with an unprecedented voter turnout, and now it is time for citizens within the country to respond.”

The candidate is reported to participate in early voting in Sinchon, Seoul, on the 29th, the first day of early voting, while encouraging others to vote. Election committee members also plan to vote early in various regions across the country, including Seoul, Incheon, Daegu, Chungcheong, and Gyeongnam.

Before the meeting that day, the Democratic Party of Korea also made a public voting pledge with members of progressive parties, including the Rebuilding Korea Party, The Progressive Party, Basic Income Party, and The Social Democratic Party of Korea, who have joined the election campaign committee.

Kim Seon-min, the acting representative of the Rebuilding Korea Party, noted, “Now it is time to rebuild the country, and the beginning starts with your vote,” and added, “A vote for this candidate will surely return as a more just country, a warm society, and a hopeful future.”

The Democratic Party of Korea plans to conduct field-oriented election campaigns nationwide in the future. As the election period approaches its end, they have also strengthened the safety alert for this candidate.

The election committee stated through internal special instructions, “As we enter the final sprint, all members should approach the election with the utmost focus and tension,” and added, “There are no ballots in the office. All but essential personnel are requested to focus on election campaigning in their respective areas.”

They continued, “Please ensure even greater diligence regarding the candidate's security and safety,” and instructed, “The highest level of security alert will be issued during on-site campaigning.”
