Reform Party candidate Lee Jun-seok noted on the 25th regarding People Power Party candidate Kim Moon-soo's statement about pursuing unification, "The People Power Party is repeatedly creating a controversy over unification every time Democratic Party of Korea candidate Lee Jae-myung is cornered, which helps him." He added, "If it won't help, I wish they would just remain silent."
That day, the candidate met with reporters at a rally site on Seosunra-gil in Jongno, Seoul, and said, "If the People Power Party had not made irrelevant comments, Lee Jae-myung’s approval rating would have already dropped to the early 40% range."
The candidate commented, "The unfortunate thing for the People Power Party is that when the election campaign started, it was someone who made Lee Jae-myung panic and go wild," adding, "Lee Jun-seok revealed Lee Jae-myung's incompetence during the debate."
Candidate Kim, after a rally in Gongju, South Chungcheong Province, met with reporters and, when asked if he plans to pursue a direct meeting with the candidate by the 28th, replied, "Since we originally came from the same root, I will continue to make efforts," and stated, "I am pursuing a meeting with candidate Lee Jun-seok for (conservative unification)."
However, he said, "I cannot say when or how this will happen."
The candidate also stated regarding the possibility of unification with Kim or withdrawing from the candidacy, "There is absolutely none," and added, "This morning, when I checked my phone, about four members of the People Power Party reached out, but I have completely blocked them. I didn’t return any calls."
He also remarked, "It would be fine for candidates Hwang Kyo-ahn, Kim Moon-soo, and Lee Jae-myung, who had similar opinions on the fraudulent election, to unify. I am not interested in the other unifications," and said, "I will observe whether these three candidates will unite around the common concern of fraudulent elections during the remaining period."
Lee Jae-myung, regarding the possibility of unification between candidates Kim and Lee Jun-seok, said, "I predict there will be a unification for rebellion," adding that "the Reform Party is a copy of the People Power Party."
Candidate Lee Jun-seok commented, "When the 12.3 rebellion broke out, the Democratic Party said, 'The Reform Party should join with the pan-opposition,' and there are countless remarks left on that," continuing, "The fact that they make such statements when the election is approaching and recently, due to Lee Jae-myung's mistakes, he is cornered, signifies that they are truly an untrustworthy faction." He added, "That’s why the Democratic Party is failing; they are untrustworthy people."
He also commented on his approval rating remaining in the 10% range, stating, "The public opinion surveys following the second TV debate were conducted yesterday and today," and added, "I think the effects of the second debate will be reflected in the surveys released tomorrow and the day after."
