Lee Jun-seok, the Reform Party's presidential candidate, said on the 24th, “I am not interested in any political engineering aside from pointing out the dangers of Lee Jae-myung (Democratic Party of Korea's presidential) candidate.” This is a statement reiterating his stance against the repeated calls for unification from the People Power Party.
The candidate met with reporters in Noryangjin-dong, Dongjak-gu, Seoul, that morning and said, “I’m struggling hard to rationally point out the possibility of a dangerous person named Lee Jae-myung gaining power, but the People Power Party is only contributing to muddying the atmosphere with its internal struggles.”
He added, “When the People Power Party keeps talking about other issues, it draws less attention to the critical mistakes of Candidate Lee Jae-myung.” If the People Power Party and Candidate Kim Moon-soo manage to unify public opinion, it would reduce the attention on the various risks associated with Candidate Lee Jae-myung.
The candidate also expressed his views regarding the notion that the support rate of Kim Moon-soo, the People Power Party's presidential candidate, is rising, which allegedly indicates that the so-called 'Dongtan model' is not functioning properly. He said, “Candidate Kim ultimately has low expansiveness, and when faced off against Lee Jae-myung, the results show that Candidate Lee Jae-myung's support rate exceeds half,” adding, “Moderate voters need to understand that the person who can lower the voting potential for Lee Jae-myung is number 4, Lee Jun-seok.”
Regarding the second TV debate held the day before, he remarked, “There will be many voters shocked by Candidate Lee Jae-myung's incompetence,” and added, “I sense a shift in interest and voting sentiment towards me, who is free from martial law and political incompetence.”
