Kim Moon-soo, the presidential candidate of the People Power Party, visited the Buddhist community on the 24th and said, "The spirit of national security Buddhism is the key to establishing the country and achieving national unity," adding, "I will faithfully uphold the teachings of Sangwolwongak Daejoesa to make Korea an even greater nation."

On that day, Kim attended the 51st anniversary of Sangwolwongak Daejoesa's nirvana ceremony held at Guinsa in Danyang County, Chungbuk, and stated this during his memorial address. Sangwolwongak Daejoesa is regarded as a figure who led the revitalization of the Cheontae sect.

During the event, Kim met Kim Hye-kyung, the wife of Lee Jae-myung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, in public for the first time. Mrs. Kim also attended the event on that day.

Before the event began, Kim approached Mrs. Kim first and shook hands. Mrs. Kim stood up from her seat to greet Kim. The two sat side by side and observed the event, but it seemed awkward as they did not talk much. Kim has recently targeted Mrs. Kim's "corporate credit card misuse suspicion" saying at a campaign event, "Did you hear that my wife used a corporate card during my eight years as governor of Gyeonggi Province?"

After the event, Kim reportedly responded when asked about his feelings upon meeting Mrs. Kim, saying, "It was nice. We should meet often."
