People Power Party lawmaker Kim Dae-sik on the 22nd responded to former representative Han Dong-hoon’s remark that former Daegu Mayor Hong Joon-pyo went to Hawaii ‘for fun’ by saying, “This remark was excessive,” regarding his recent trip to Hawaii as a special envoy to persuade Hong, who left the People Power Party.

Lawmaker Kim stated on that day via Facebook, “The sole reason I went to Hawaii at my own expense was to prevent the division of the People Power Party and to open the door to conservative unification.” He added, “Now that (former Mayor Hong) has declared his departure, this effort stemmed from a genuine desire to unite the conservatives and win this presidential election,” and emphasized, “No one was on vacation.”

He continued, “If you accuse us of having gone ‘for fun,’ then who will take responsibility when the party shakes again in the future?” He pointed out, “We should not disparage and dismantle the bridges we have painstakingly built, even if we can’t connect them to each other.”

Lawmaker Kim respectfully requested, “I kindly ask you to refrain from such remarks,” and said, “Only when we act with gravity can we believe that the strength we share can lead to victory in the presidential election and re-establish the center of South Korea.”

Earlier, former representative Han in a campaign in Yookgeori Market in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province, stated, “Right now, the pro-Yoon faction has four people taking a plane to Hawaii to meet Hong Joon-pyo, and I don’t even know where Han Duck-soo, who was pushed to the forefront, is,” using expressions like ‘pro-Yoon riffraff’.
