The People Power Party announced a pet policy on the 21st, which includes the mandatory online posting of medical service expenses at veterinary hospitals and improving the coverage of pet insurance. This is a measure to alleviate the treatment cost burden for 10 million pet-owning households.
The People Power Party promised to first reduce the treatment cost burden for pets by requiring all medical service items provided by veterinary hospitals to be written in a standardized format for comparison, and to post prices online to make it easier to compare medical expenses.
It also stated it would diversify pet insurance products, improve coverage and support conditions, and mandate the disclosure of pet medical records.
It has also decided to promote psychological therapy support for individuals who have lost pets and establish public funeral facilities.
It will support adoption through platforms for adopting stray animals to minimize euthanasia and strengthen national budget support for the sterilization of feral cats.
It also promised to create pet parks, expand the operation of pet cafes, and establish a pet day.
On the other hand, it revealed plans to establish a permit system for breeding dangerous dogs to alleviate discomfort for those who feel uneasy around pets, and to promote a culture of 'pet etiquette,' including the use of muzzles.
