Kim Beom-suk, the acting Minister of Economy and Finance, noted on the 21st that "an additional 28.6 trillion won in policy financing resources has been secured based on a supplementary budget of 15 trillion won."
On the same day, Kim chaired the "Ministerial Meeting on Economic Affairs and the Ministerial Meeting on Strengthening Industrial Competitiveness" at the Government Seoul Building and said, "We will support corporations in responding to trade risks."
Kim stated, "We will provide support for management stability for affected corporations (16.3 trillion won), market diversification (7.4 trillion won), and investment in facilities to strengthen industrial competitiveness (4.9 trillion won)."
He said, "We will thoroughly check the execution status together with related departments to ensure that policy funds are supplied swiftly on the ground," adding, "We will also support waivers for financial institutions to ensure active supply if necessary."
Kim noted, "We will focus all our efforts to minimize the impact of tariffs," and added, "We will push for support measures for industries subject to tariffs, such as steel and automobiles, as well as for small and medium-sized enterprises to stabilize management and create new demand." This is a follow-up to the establishment of support systems for affected corporations, including tariff response vouchers, logistics, certification, and marketing expenses.
He emphasized, "In the future, we will strengthen support for investments to return home and prepare in advance for tariffs on items such as pharmaceuticals and semiconductors."
He said, "We also promote strengthening industrial competitiveness comprehensively," adding, "We have supported the establishment of national infrastructure to lead advanced industrial ecosystems, such as the National Artificial Intelligence (AI) Computing Center and the Yongin Semiconductor Cluster."
Kim also noted, "We have prepared a plan to establish a 'advanced strategic industry fund' valued at 50 trillion won," and stated, "We will expedite follow-up measures, such as supporting the swift passage of the amendment to the Industrial Bank Act."
He added, "We will swiftly complete consulting for business restructuring in the petrochemical industry and sequentially prepare plans for the advancement of industries such as steel," stating, "We will also support the recovery of competitiveness in key industries."
Regarding the promotion of the service industry, Kim stated, "We will identify various tasks to enhance competitiveness in the service industry through the joint public-private 'Service Industry Development Task Force (TF).'
He mentioned, "We have announced 10 measures across various fields, including everyday services, export promotion, and productivity innovation," and added, "We plan to implement and enhance the measures swiftly to ensure their effects are visible on the ground."
Kim stated, "We will disclose regional and itemized pricing information for marriage services starting at the end of May and secure over 200 public wedding venues by 2027." He further added, "We will establish development strategies to ensure that content and military maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) can grow as key export industries while concentrating on fostering promising sectors such as tech services and data."
Kim added, "We will innovate digital administrative services to provide stable and convenient services to the public," and stated, "We will allow large corporations to participate in large-scale projects exceeding 70 billion won."
He further noted, "We will prioritize verified private software over direct development," and added, "We will adopt a modular approach to manage functionalities independently so that the entire system can operate even if some functions encounter issues."
