Overview of the Ministry of Environment building

To operate both the 'public sewage management agency' and the 'technical diagnosis specialist institution' while checking the management status, it was necessary to have redundant equipment to meet the registration criteria, but this will no longer be required.

The Ministry of Environment announced on the 20th that a partial revision of the Sewage Act enforcement ordinance, which focuses on organizing the registration criteria for public sewage management agencies and technical diagnosis specialist institutions, was reviewed and approved at the State Council and will be implemented from the 27th.

In the past, public sewage management agencies had to be registered as technical diagnosis specialist institutions, or vice versa, needing to secure the equipment necessary for the registration criteria and requirements of each business. As a result, even if there were 15 types of experimental analysis equipment, including mobile flow meters, total organic carbon, total nitrogen, total phosphorus, and suspended solids, they had to acquire additional equipment to conduct the opposing business.

With this enforcement ordinance revision, if both the public sewage management agency and the technical diagnosis specialist institution are registered, they will no longer need to have redundant equipment for the 15 common types.

Additionally, the qualification titles for technical personnel among the registration criteria for public sewage management agencies and technical diagnosis specialist institutions have been updated in accordance with the Enforcement Rules of the National Technical Qualifications Act. The mechanical maintenance technician has been revised to facility maintenance technician, and the bioengineering technician has been corrected to bio chemical product manufacturing technician.

Jo Hee-sung, Director of the Water Environment Policy Division at the Ministry of Environment, noted, 'We will continue to improve the system to ensure the public sewage management system operates efficiently.'
