People Power Party Chairperson Kim Yong-tae noted on the 19th regarding the constitutional amendment proposal of Democratic Party of Korea presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung that it is "not about sharing power, but rather restructuring the axis of power and calculating political advantages and disadvantages."

Chairperson Kim said during a campaign committee meeting held at the National Assembly that "(the candidate's constitutional amendment proposal) may seem like an attempt to disperse power on the surface, but in reality, it is designed to disable checks on the executive branch and concentrate legislative power around the majority party in the assembly."

He stated regarding the amendment proposal presented by the candidate that it suggests, "Let the National Assembly recommend the prime minister, and the president should not be able to veto; let's also abolish the president's right to request reconsideration (veto)." He continued, "The National Assembly has long lost the public's trust due to legislative domination, and can we truly call an amendment that grants prime minister appointment authority to such a National Assembly a dispersion of power?"

Chairperson Kim pointed out, "This candidate spoke of constitutional amendments even in the last presidential election. Back then, they advocated for a shortened term of the four-year re-election system, and this time they have brought up the re-election system," adding, "It appears to be a political card thrown out in accordance with each election."

He then mentioned the candidate's amendment proposal including ▲ shortening the next president's term to 3 years ▲ four-year re-election system ▲ abolishing presidential immunity ▲ abolishing parliamentary immunity for lawmakers.

Chairperson Kim stated, "People Power Party candidate Kim Moon-soo presents a completely different path, and the People Power Party aims to implement institutional reforms for the nation, not amendments for the regime. It will choose a path to restore public trust, rather than serving the interests of those in power or specific political parties."
