The Democratic Party of Korea announced on the 19th that it will release photos related to the allegations of entertainment establishment hosting involving Director General Ji Gwi-yeon, who is presiding over the insurrection trial of former President Yoon Seok-yeol. Director General Ji denied the allegations during the morning, stating, "It is not true."
The Democratic Party election strategy committee's insurrection termination constitutional protection promotion headquarters stated, "Judge Ji denied the very entrance to the room salon concerning the hosting allegations. In relation to this, the Democratic Party has decided to release the photos," and added, "We will announce the Democratic Party's position in the election headquarters briefing room at 1:50 p.m."
Earlier, the Democratic Party raised allegations against Director General Ji regarding entertainment establishment hosting. Representative Kim Yong-min noted at the National Assembly Legislation and Judiciary Committee on the 14th, "I received specific information that a judge drank several times in a room salon where the expense per person amounts to between 1 million won and 2 million won and that the judge has never paid even once," and added, "This is Judge Ji, who is currently presiding over the insurrection case of Yoon Seok-yeol."
Kim Gi-pyo, also of the same party, revealed the entertainment establishment, stating, "Although the entrance looks shabby, it is said to be a reservation-only room salon located in Gangnam," and emphasized, "If you see internal photos, it is very luxurious."
Director General Ji stated ahead of the trial concerning former President Yoon's insurrection charges at the Seoul Central District Court that day, "I believe that if I do not speak, it will be difficult for the trial itself to gain trust, so I would like to mention this," and fully denied, "The allegations raised are not true, and I have never even thought about being hosted at such a place."
He added, "Given that an important trial is in progress, the continuous allegations raised due to the judge's background checks could impact the trial proceedings through external stimuli or attacks, and the court will make sure to diligently conduct a fair and swift trial according to the procedures set by law."
