Lee Jae-myung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, said on the 18th regarding the enactment of the anti-discrimination law, "The direction is right, but the current issues are complicated. If the enactment of the anti-discrimination law intensifies debate and conflict, it will be difficult to do what needs to be done immediately."
On the 18th, candidate Lee answered this when asked by Kwon Young-guk, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Labor Party, during the 21st presidential candidate TV debate organized by the Central Election Broadcasting Debate Commission, "Do you agree with the enactment of the anti-discrimination law?"
Candidate Lee noted that "it is not desirable to neglect the discrimination caused by any specific factors related to the anti-discrimination law," but also stated, "Currently, there are too many complicated issues, and if debate and conflict regarding the anti-discrimination law intensify, it will be difficult to do what needs to be done now."
Candidate Kwon said of Lee's response, "It seems like we will never be able to enact the anti-discrimination law."
