People Power Party candidate Kim Moon-soo visited Jeonju, North Jeolla Province, on the 17th and said he would fully support bidding for the 2036 Summer Olympics.
Candidate Kim noted at a rally in front of Jeonju Hanok Village's Jeondong Catholic Church, “With your passionate enthusiasm, I will help ensure victory in the (Olympic bidding race).”
He said, “I know the secret of how North Jeolla won against Seoul in the (domestic candidate selection process for the Olympics). It was because of the passionate enthusiasm of the people of North Jeolla. Seoul was a bit lackluster; can lukewarm water, no matter how abundant, beat a bucket of hot water?”
Candidate Kim also addressed the Saemangeum development project, asking, “Why are we leaving the 12,000,000 pyeong of Saemangeum untouched?” He promised to develop this great land into a world-class industrial and educational city, saying, “I will make it a city of dreams.” He added, “For corporations coming to Saemangeum as a free economic city, I will grant tax exemptions and remove other regulations,” and emphasized, “We need to boldly offer the land almost for free and cut taxes.”
He commented, “You may think I’m talking nonsense when I say this, but since I got married, I've never pretended to be single outside. During the development of thousands of pyeong in Gyeonggi Province, there hasn’t been a suspicious death or anyone under investigation,” targeting Democratic Party of Korea candidate Lee Jae-myung.
After finishing the rally in front of Jeondong Catholic Church, candidate Kim visited the North Jeolla Province Taxi Transport Business Association. He has held a taxi license and has worked as a taxi driver in areas including Gwangmyeong, Seoul's Guro, and Daegu. The association members welcomed him, saying, “We love you, candidate.”
Candidate Kim remarked, “No one among the past presidents has driven taxis as much as I have,” and said, “I will become the taxi president.” He noted, “While taxi driving is a form of self-employment, it is categorized under transportation businesses and suffers from many regulations imposed by authorities,” adding, “I share the same thought as the association's request to eliminate regulations.”
