Lee Jae-myung, candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, and Kim Moon-soo, candidate of the People Power Party, are reaching out to their supporters in Honam on the 17th, a day before the commemoration ceremony for the May 18 Democratic Uprising.
This area is considered a core voting base of the progressive camp and is referred to as a barren land for conservatives.
On this day, the candidate visits Naju and Gwangju in Jeollanam-do to secure votes. They will hold a meeting titled "K-Content Level Up!" focusing on the gaming and content industry, and will conclude their schedule by attending the eve of the May 18 Democratic Uprising.
Candidate Kim visits Honam for the first time since the official campaign began on the 12th.
Starting with a visit to the National May 18 Democratic Martyrs' Cemetery in Gwangju, they will visit the site of the Gwangju Prison historical site and then attend a meeting of the election strategy committee at the Kim Dae-jung Convention Center.
They will then move to Jeonju in North Jeolla Province to announce regional pledges and hold a meeting with the Jeonbuk Taxi Association.
Candidate Kim will not attend the eve of the May 18 Democratic Uprising and the commemoration ceremony held on the 17th and 18th, respectively. The Kim campaign explained that this is due to prior commitments, including preparations for the presidential debate scheduled for the 18th.
Meanwhile, Lee Jun-seok, the candidate of the Reform Party, continues to target young voters in Seoul on this day.
They will serve as a speaker at the "Young Doctors Forum" organized by the Korean Association of Resident Doctors, the Association of Medical Students, and others, and will seek support in Seongsu and Hongdae, areas frequented by young people.
