Seok Dong-hyun, a legal representative of former President Yoon Suk-yeol and a friend of 40 years, resigned from the People Power Party's election countermeasures committee on the 17th and began to 'distance' himself from the party. This follows former President Yoon's departure from the People Power Party.
On this day, Seok said through his Facebook, "As of today, I will step down from the position of chairman of the civil society special committee for candidate Kim Moon-soo's election campaign and want to help as an ordinary citizen."
Seok noted, "The People Power Party is a party that represents and serves the conservative and moderate voters of this country, regardless of party membership, and among those people are also citizens who are trying to distance themselves from us and are even called extreme right-wing within the People Power Party. While they might be referred to as true conservatives, why are they considered extreme right-wing?"
He added, "The strategy for this presidential election is exceedingly simple. We must ensure that as many people as possible who believe that the most anti-democratic ruling of the Democratic Party in our political history must be stopped go out to vote," and emphasized that first, the influential figures and members within the People Power Party must show a united front, thinking of the election as their own.
Seok urged, "I hope all citizens who tried to protect President Yoon last winter in the cold across the country, the National Citizens' Lawyers, Yoon Again, and the youth of Freedom University will think about the deep meaning contained in President Yoon's decision today and make an effort to go to the polls with their families without exception."
