On this day, Congressman Kim met with reporters at the Gwangju National 5·18 Democratic Cemetery and stated, “The very fact that they opened the path of resignation is a mistaken decision.”

He noted, “Some within the People Power Party will evaluate that ‘former President Yoon acted for the party,’ but in fact, such actions only make the People Power Party more ill.”

He added, “Former President Yoon's resignation will not be a variable in the presidential election,” and emphasized, “There needs to be true reflection and actions that convey sincerity to the public.”

Regarding joining the campaign of Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party of Korea presidential candidate, in Iksan, North Jeolla Province, the day before, Congressman Kim stated, “My decision of the heart is somewhat settled,” and noted, “What I hear Lee said on the campaign trail is almost the same as what I have been thinking. There are times when I am surprised.”

Explaining the reason for attending the 45th anniversary memorial service for the May 18 Democratic Movement, he remarked, “The possibility of leading to impeachment was thanks to the spirit of Gwangju,” and asserted, “Because of the greater sacrifices and courage than I had shown, Gwangju has allowed Korea to become what it is today.”

At the memorial service, Congressman Kim was seen shedding tears while singing the 'Song of the March for the Impeached.'
