Kim Moon-soo, the People Power Party's presidential candidate election campaign committee, has formed a 'Hawaii special envoy group' to persuade former Daegu Mayor Hong Joon-pyo to return home and plans to depart on the 18th, it announced on the 17th.
This special envoy dispatch is being carried out as the presidential election landscape is being reshaped following former President Yoon Suk-yeol's departure from the People Power Party.
The special envoy group is comprised of Yoo Sang-bum, head of the unification promotion headquarters; Kim Dae-sik, head of external cooperation; Jo Kwang-han, deputy head of external cooperation; and Lee Sung-bae, spokesperson for the election campaign committee.
The special envoy group plans to personally deliver a handwritten letter from candidate Kim Moon-soo to former Mayor Hong.
Director General Yoo Sang-bum emphasized, "Now is a decisive moment, much like the 12 ships of General Yi Sun-sin during the Battle of Myeongnyang, where we must create victory even under adverse conditions. The resolution and strength of candidate Hong Joon-pyo are urgently needed at this turning point."
Special envoy Kim Dae-sik said, "Former candidate Hong Joon-pyo is a symbol of conservative politics in South Korea. Due to former President Yoon's departure from the party, there is a need for a focal point for conservatism now, and we hope for the dignified return of candidate Hong."
