Kim Moon-soo, the People Power Party presidential candidate, noted on the 11th that he has appointed Park Dae-chul as secretary general.
Park, a former journalist, is a four-term incumbent who has been elected consecutively since 2012 in the Jinju Gap district of Gyeongsangnam-do.
Earlier, the Kim candidate's camp clashed with the party leadership over the appointment of the secretary general.
The Kim candidate's camp had initially nominated Representative Jang Dong-hyuk, who was the head of the camp's general election headquarters, for the secretary general position, but that fell through after Jang declined.
Afterward, Secretary General Lee Yang-soo fulfilled the duties, but he stepped down after completing the operational work, assuming responsibility for the party candidate replacement process.
Meanwhile, efforts to replace the People Power Party presidential candidate Kim Moon-soo with former Prime Minister Han Duck-soo were thwarted by resistance from party members.
The day before, a vote among party members on whether to replace the candidate was rejected, restoring Kim's eligibility as the party's presidential candidate.
