Kim Moon-soo, the People Power Party presidential candidate, dismissed calls from within the party to replace Kweon Seong-dong, the floor leader, and decided to maintain the current system.

It is interpreted that realistically, the intense election campaign starting from the 12th influences this.

Seo Ji-young, the floor spokesperson, met with reporters on the 11th shortly after a meeting with candidate Kim and floor leader Kweon Seong-dong and stated, "Candidate Kim said that 'selecting a floor leader during the presidential election phase is inappropriate'" and noted, "He expressed that he hoped Floor Leader Kweon would play a role in ensuring that lawmakers can fully commit to the election campaign before the election period."

Earlier the previous day, some party members, mainly from the pro-Han faction, argued that Floor Leader Kweon should resign as he must take responsibility for the failed unification and the reckless attempt to replace the candidate.

The 'amendment to change the candidate Han Duck-soo' promoted by the People Power Party leadership was narrowly rejected in an ARS vote by party members on the 10th. Kwon Young-se, the emergency response committee chairman, resigned in response to this.

Floor Leader Kweon emphasized during the first meeting of the central election committee following the lawmakers' meeting that "the People Power Party will unite around candidate Kim for a victory in the June 3rd presidential election" and noted, "Now is not the time to be disappointed. We can achieve a miraculous comeback with a two-out, bases-loaded home run in the ninth inning."

The two reportedly discussed the appointment of the successor to Chairman Kweon during their meeting that day.

In response to a question regarding whether candidate Kim would have authority if a new chairman is appointed, floor spokesperson Seo stated, "According to the current party constitution and regulations, the floor leader holds the status of acting party leader," and explained, "If the floor leader designates a new chairman, it will go through the national committee for final approval and appointment."
