The registration for candidates in the 21st presidential election has closed. A total of 7 candidates are running in this election.

The National Election Commission announced on the 11th that Kim Moon-soo, a candidate from the People Power Party, submitted additional registration documents, bringing the total number of registered presidential candidates to 7.

Kim Yoon-deok, the Secretary-General, is registering on behalf of Lee Jae-myung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, while Kim Moon-soo, the presidential candidate of the People Power Party, is registering on that day, and Lee Jun-seok, the presidential candidate of the Reform Party, registered the previous day./Courtesy of Yonhap News.

On the first day of registration, 6 candidates registered, including Lee Jae-myung, the candidate from the Democratic Party of Korea, Lee Jun-seok from the Reform Party, Kwon Young-guk from the Democratic Labor Party, Gu Ju-wha from the Free Unification Party, and independents Song Jin-ho and Hwang Kyo-ahn.

The presidential candidates submitted personal information related to their assets, taxes, and military service to the Election Commission. Hwang Kyo-ahn reported the largest amount of assets at 3.3 billion won. Lee Jae-myung followed with 3.089 billion won, and Kwon Young-guk reported 2.5193 billion won. Kim Moon-soo reported 1.06561 billion won, and Lee Jun-seok reported 1.47897 billion won.

In terms of criminal records, Song Jin-ho had the highest number with 17 cases, followed by Kwon Young-guk with 4 cases, Lee Jae-myung with 3 cases, and Kim Moon-soo with 3 cases.

Regarding military service status, Lee Jun-seok, Gu Ju-wha, and Song Jin-ho have completed military service. Lee Jae-myung received a classification as a reserve due to aftereffects of a fracture, and Kim Moon-soo was classified as a reserve due to aftereffects of ear surgery.

The candidate symbols were determined as follows: Lee Jae-myung received number 1, Kim Moon-soo number 2, Lee Jun-seok number 4, Kwon Young-guk number 5, Gu Ju-wha number 6, Hwang Kyo-ahn number 7, and Song Jin-ho number 8. Number 3 was left blank as the Rebuilding Korea Party did not submit a candidate.
