Representative Kang Hoon-sik, head of the Democratic Party of Korea Central Election Committee, noted on the 11th regarding concerns that if presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung is elected, the Democratic Party will monopolize legislative, executive, and judicial powers, saying, 'That claim led to Yoon Suk-yeol's election during the last presidential election.' This comes amid concerns over the Democratic Party, which independently pursued impeachment and a special investigation with 170 seats in the National Assembly, also holding executive and judicial authority.
On that day, during a press conference at the central party office, Representative Kang responded to the question, 'How will you dispel the concerns that the Democratic Party will misuse power if it comes to power?' by saying, 'During the last presidential election, it was said that the executive branch should not go to the Democratic Party, which was the largest party in the National Assembly.' He added, 'Please recognize that this led to the era of martial law.' He continued, 'It is important for the Democratic Party to create a new Republic of Korea to stabilize the civil war.'
Chairperson Yoon Yeo-joon also said, 'We must turn this into a turning point to restore the Republic of Korea, which has faced its worst crisis in three years under the Yoon Suk-yeol administration,' adding, 'This presidential election is a vote to severely judge Yoon Suk-yeol and his followers.'
'This early presidential election is a vote to judge those who have undermined constitutional order through illegal martial law, those who defended illegal martial law and opposed impeachment, those who have privatized power and manipulated state affairs while mired in superstition and delusion, and those who seek personal gain by aligning with that power in the name of democracy,' he stated.
Chairperson Yoon stated, 'Now is a critical time for the political balance of all national institutions,' emphasizing, 'During this sensitive period, the balance awareness and political neutrality of the judiciary, executive, and the National Election Commission's investigative and lawful institutions are vital.' He further added, 'Please examine whether unnecessary political conflicts and clashes may arise in the process of everyone fulfilling their respective responsibilities and roles.'
