Lee Nak-yon, the permanent advisor of the New Future Democratic Party, said on the 10th that he would not run in the 21st presidential election. He also noted, "I will not help another person's election."
On the morning of that day, the advisor issued a statement saying, "In this era of madness, where the two major parties are going crazy with extreme politics, I felt that there is not much I can do through an election."
He pointed out, "Currently, South Korea stands at a dangerous crossroads. Will it recover as a normal state, or will it fall into a monstrous state?" and added, "Unfortunately, South Korea is heading towards a monstrous state."
Regarding the Democratic Party of Korea, he criticized, "If a guilty verdict is handed down to those in power, even the Chief Justice won’t be silent," and said, "By increasing the number of Supreme Court Justices from 14 to a maximum of 100, the Supreme Court will become a stage for the populism manipulated by the powers."
Targeting Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party's presidential candidate, he stated, "If a criminal defendant runs in the presidential election, the trial will be postponed," and added, "If elected president, an acquittal is allowed, while a guilty verdict is suspended throughout the term. However, they won’t say they will receive a fair trial after finishing their term."
The advisor remarked, "Regime change is justified," but added, "If the means of that change is the destruction of the rule of law, it makes the regime change dangerously distorted."
He further expressed concern by stating, "The Democratic Party has abandoned the path of regime change that protects the rule of law and has chosen the destruction of the rule of law," adding, "As a result of that choice, we are witnessing a preview of a monstrous state."
He continued, "Just as I have done until now, I will continue to warn of South Korea's crises and propose alternatives such as constitutional amendments," and added, "Even if I am lonely, I will shout for justice for the country until the day I die."
