Lee Jun-seok, the presidential candidate of the Reform Party, noted on the 10th regarding the People Power Party's cancellation of the nomination of presidential candidate Kim Moon-soo that "At this point, I wonder if there was some kind of secret agreement to support candidate Lee Jae-myung."
The candidate said on Facebook that "I extend my heartfelt condolences to candidate Kim Moon-soo."
He said, "I didn't expect any reflection on having forcibly driven out a party leader who won consecutive elections, but hearing that there is a willingness to consider an apology made me wonder if they are aware of their shame." He added, "However, I never dreamed that they would repeat such actions regarding the presidential candidate." He continued, "We must perish if there aren't 10 righteous people." This is interpreted as referring to his resignation from the leadership due to accusations within the People Power Party during his time as the representative.
The candidate further stated, "Now the Reform Party is the only party that can prevent candidate Lee Jae-myung's runaway victory," and added, "Let's change the world through a head-on breakthrough."
The People Power Party, after the defeat of the unification negotiations between candidate Kim and independent candidate Han Duck-soo the previous day, convened an emergency committee early that morning and canceled the nomination of presidential candidate Kim Moon-soo. Afterward, when candidate Han joined the People Power Party, he registered as the new presidential candidate.
