The Democratic Party of Korea, Rebuilding Korea Party, The Progressive Party, The Social Democratic Party of Korea, and Basic Income Party agreed on the unification of presidential candidates on the 9th. Kim Jae-yeon, the candidate from The Progressive Party, who was the only one aside from Lee Jae-myung of the Democratic Party of Korea to express intentions to run for the presidency, declared, "I will conclude my candidacy activities and support this candidate."

The five parties announced a joint declaration at the 'Citizen Alliance for the Presidential Election Coalition - Party Roundtable Meeting' supporting this candidate as their unified candidate.

Candidate Kim stated, "I will support this candidate as the presidential candidate of the public square and conclude my activities as a preliminary candidate, and I will keep the promise made in the public square to fight against the forces of internal rebellion with determination, regardless of the position or role I hold."

In response, Park Chan-dae, the permanent chief of the election strategy committee of the Democratic Party of Korea, said, "I express my respect and gratitude for Candidate Kim's courageous decision," and added, "I will remember the significance of today's joint declaration and, alongside the great people and civil society that have protected the public square, together with the various parties standing tall at the forefront of Yeouido, we will achieve overwhelming regime change and an overwhelming victory in the presidential election."

The five parties and the Public Square Alliance declared, "We select this candidate as the presidential candidate of the public square and declare our support for an absolute regime change and the complete end of internal rebellion."

They emphasized that they will promote a special investigation to thoroughly determine the facts and hold responsible parties accountable for the acts of internal rebellion and correct the violations of democratic constitutional order and political and social regressions caused by far-right internal rebellion forces.

They also stated, "We will rectify the anti-democratic and anti-people oppression of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration by promoting the re-legislation of various bills that were discarded due to vetoes as soon as possible."

Additionally, they announced that they would launch a Social Reform Committee after the presidential election on June 3 to discuss key policy issues such as renewable energy, prosecutorial reform, improvement of corporations governance, and basic labor rights.

Han Chang-min, the leader of The Social Democratic Party of Korea, suggested, "Let’s activate a joint campaign committee involving the five major parties and the civic alliance."

In response, Kim Hyun-jung, the deputy chief of the Democratic Party of Korea's Brilliant Revolution Citizen Headquarters, stated, "It is not appropriate to discuss the joint campaign committee in this meeting," adding, "Discussions are underway."
