The People Power Party will disclose a preference survey on the 9th for the unification of presidential candidate Kim Moon-soo and independent preliminary candidate Han Duck-soo. Based on this, there are speculations that the People Power Party leadership may attempt to replace the presidential candidate.
The party leadership and Han's side hold the position that unification must be finalized by the registration deadline for presidential candidates on the 11th.
Since the previous day, the party has been conducting a member vote and a public opinion poll asking who among candidates Kim and Han would be the better presidential unification candidate for two consecutive days.
Member voting will close at 4 p.m. that day, and the public opinion poll will close at 1 p.m.
The preference survey will reflect the member vote and public opinion poll equally at 50%, just as in the 2nd and 3rd candidate primaries.
During the 2nd meeting with Han the previous day, candidate Kim, who did not find common ground on the timing or method of unification, filed a petition for a preliminary injunction with the court to confirm his status as a presidential candidate amid the party's forced unification moves.
Candidate Kim has canceled his on-site activities in the Daegu and Busan areas that day.
