Park Chan-dae, the standing chairman of the election committee, met with reporters near the party office in Yeouido, Seoul, on this day and explained the reason for postponing the proposal for a special prosecutor law against Chief Justice Cho, saying, “It seems that there is internal criticism and self-regulatory capability within the judiciary,” and added, “For now, it is necessary to observe.” Initially, the Democratic Party had announced plans to propose the special prosecutor law on this day to investigate allegations of Chief Justice Cho's election interference.

Chief Spokesperson Cho Seung-rae also met with reporters in the afternoon and noted, “First of all, self-regulatory efforts, including the convening of a judges' meeting, are being carried out within the judiciary, so we are watching those efforts.”

When asked by reporters, “Is the proposal for the special prosecutor law not being made today?” Chief Spokesperson Cho answered, “We are observing.”

However, the Democratic Party continued to pressure Chief Justice Cho to resign. Chief Spokesperson Cho said in a briefing that day, “The aftershocks of the judicial coup led by Chief Justice Cho are still present,” and urged, “If Chief Justice Cho has any minimal conscience as a judge, he should make a decision about his position.”

He added, “That is the only way to restore some trust in the judiciary that he has undermined,” and reiterated his call for Chief Justice Cho to resign voluntarily.

Earlier, after the Supreme Court overturned the election law case of presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung with a guilty intent, the Democratic Party has been pressuring Chief Justice Cho by bringing up proposals for a special prosecutor law and impeachment.
